It wasn’t a bakery trip to New York, it was her brother’s recipe, and a cookie heavier than a quarter pounder patty. Nikki had tasted the New York-Style cookie that way first — homemade, unhurried, completely unreasonable in the best way. Gooey center. Crisp edge.
